Dr. Rima Balshe is a cognitive psychologist with expertise in topics that pertain to memory, attention, language, and learning. She has assessed hundreds of children and takes a strength-based approach to assessment and interventions for neurodiverse children.
In her clinical work, she supports children and their families using a mentalization-based approach, helping them understand the mental states—such as feelings and intentions—that underlie behavior to foster stronger relational bonds.
Early in her career, Balshe worked for several years with children, providing a wide range of educational and behavioral interventions. Balshe also taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at the American University in Cairo, where she delivered courses in cognitive psychology, psychological testing and assessment, psychology in schools, and research methods. Balshe is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Coventry University (The Knowledge Hub Universities, Cairo) delivering courses such as mental health and wellbeing, and research into human behavior.
Beyond her teaching, Balshe continues to collaborate on research with University College London (UCL), focusing on learning and literacy development.
